Mar 4, Ekwok - Feb. 19 - Dillingham-based Alaska State Troopers charged Constantine Quisto Akelkok, 25, of Ekwok, with failure to register as a sex offender in the second degree. Akelkok is required to register in December of each year for a 2004 sexual assault in the second degree conviction and failed to do so in December 2009. A summons for an arraignment was issued by the Dillingham Court.
Feb 20, Manokotak - 4:15 p.m. The village public safety officer in Manokotak received a report that Moses J. Chythlook Jr., 24, was operating a snowmachine while intoxicated. An investigation revealed that Chythlook was operating a snowmachine in a reckless manner within the village of Manokotak. Law enforcement attempted to stop Chythlook, but he failed to stop his snowmachine at their direction and continued to drive in a reckless manner. Chythlook was located in Manokotak and taken into custody after a short altercation. A search into Chythlook history revealed that he was on felony probation for an unrelated incident. Chythlook was remanded at the Dillingham Correctional facility on $1,000 cash bail and court-approved third party custodian. Chythlook was charged with driving under the influence, failure to stop in the first degree and felony probation violation.
Feb 18, Manokotak - Dillingham Alaska State Troopers received a report that Abraham G. George, 47, of Manokotak, was out of compliance with his sex offender registration. An investigation revealed that George is required to complete annual registration requirements each November; and as of Feb. 18, he had failed to do so for November 2009. George was charged with failure to register as a sex offender. A summons was requested on the charge.
Feb 17, Twin Hills - Feb. 7 - 1:40 p.m. Dillingham Alaska State Troopers received a report of a burglary which occurred at the Contract Postal Station in Twin Hills. An investigation revealed that sometime overnight one or more people had broken into the back door of the post office. The perpetrators made off with about $28 in cash and coin, and damaged another inside locked door and a safe. Damage to the building was estimated to be less than $50. The investigation is ongoing.
Feb 17, New Stuyahok - Feb. 5 - New Stuyahok village public safety officer responded to a report of an intoxicated woman who was in possession of her three children. An investigation revealed that Barbara Gust, 27, was intoxicated while being in possession of her three children, ages 2, 7 and 8. During the investigation, Gust began shoving her husband, 32, in a manner that was likely to provoke an immediate violent response. Gust was arrested and charged with harassment and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and remanded at the Dillingham Correctional facility. Gust was later released by the Dillingham Court on her own recognizance.
Feb 17, Naknek - Feb. 8 - In Naknek District Court, Louis F. Cariaso, 51, of Cheyenne, Wyo., pleaded no contest to charges of falsifying a 2009 resident fishing/hunting/trapping license, taking a bear without a non-resident locking tag and taking a bear without a registered guide. As part of an agreement with the state, charges of unlawful possession and transportation were dismissed and the state did not seek license and tag fee restitution under the federal Pittman-Robertson Acts which would have totaled more than $3,000. Cariaso was fined $10,300 with $6,500 suspended, sentenced to 40 days in jail with 40 suspended, ordered to pay restitution of $1,300 for the illegally taken brown bear and forfeit the bear hide and skull, and the defendant was placed on probation for two years. In addition his hunting privileges were revoked for one year.
Feb 17, Kokhanok - Feb. 6 - Alaska State Troopers was contacted regarding a domestic disturbance at a residence in Kokhanok. An investigation revealed that Natalia Wassillie, 53, of Kokhanok, was intoxicated when she assaulted an adult male in the residence. Wassillie also interfered with the report of a domestic violence when she disconnected the telephone while parties in the residence were talking to the troopers. Wassillie was transported and remanded to the Bristol Bay Borough Detention Facility in King Salmon awaiting arraignment on charges of assault in the fourth degree and interfering with report of domestic violence.
Feb 17, Iliamna Lake - Feb. 5 - 3 p.m. Ryan A. Pope, 30, of Pope-Vannoy Landing, appeared telephonically in Naknek District Court for his arraignment on one count of taking a moose without a valid license or harvest tag in Game Management Unit 9B. He pleaded no contest and was sentenced to a $500 fine, the meat seized during the investigation was forfeited to the state, and he was ordered to pay $250 for the return of the seized rifle.
Feb 17, Aleknagik - Feb. 4 - 2 p.m. Alaska State Troopers in Dillingham served an arrest warrant on Michael P. Andrew, 18, of Aleknagik. Andrew was taken into custody without incident and he was remanded at the Dillingham Correctional facility on four counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree. His bail was set at $25,000.
Feb 2, Manokotak - Dillingham-based Alaska State Troopers and the Manokotak village public safety officer contacted Vincent Joseph Evon Nicketa, 32, of Manokotak. An investigation showed that Nicketa was out of compliance with his release conditions by not being within sight and sound of his court approved third-party custodian. Nicketa was arrested and remanded to the Dillingham Jail charged with one count of violation of release conditions. Nicketa’s original charges were driving under the influence, misconduct involving a controlled substance in the sixth degree, violating conditions of release and importation.
