The Tanalian Lynx are back on top and headed for the "big show."

Tanalian nailed down a berth in the upcoming ASAA Mixed-Six State Volleyball Championships this past weekend by rolling to the Lake and Peninsula School District championship. The Lynx reeled off a perfect 3-0 record, including a victory over Newhalen in the LPSD championship game on Saturday.

Led by the play of Kaia Bebee and Glen Alsworth, Tanalian opened tournament action with a win over Igiugig. From there, they dispatched Nondalton in the semifinals before facing off against Natasha Hobson and the Newhalen Malamutes in the finals. Bebee and Alsworth were among 10 LPSD athletes named to the all-tournament team following the event.

With the win, Tanalian will advance to the state mixed-six tournament, which is scheduled for Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at Dimond High School in Anchorage.

Igiugig and Chignik Lagoon also earned honors at the tournament. Igiugig earned the LPSD Sportsmanship award, while Chignik Lagoon was the recipient of the district's academic award.
