Governor seeks 'Choose Respect' posters from kids
A contest is underway for students across Alaska to design posters related to the Choose Respect campaign. Started under former Gov. Sean Parnell, the initiative is meant to bring awareness to the issue of domestic violence and sexual assault in the state by engaging its residents in meaningful learning and teaching opportunities in the public eye. The campaign has continued under Gov. Bill Walker.
This year, students may participate in a number of activities including this contest, for which they must design a poster illustrating this year's theme: "Choose Respect: Alaskans pulling together for each other."
Posters may be sent to: Office of the Governor. Attention: Poster Contest, 550 West Seventh Avenue, Suite 1700, Anchorage, AK 99501. They may be emailed to email@example.com. Karen Obermann may also be contacted via email or by phone at 907-269-7450 with any questions. All posters must be received by mail or email by April 14. More information, including specific requirements for the posters, can be found on the school district's website, www.nsbsd.org.
