The Bristol Bay Lady Angels continued to prove they deserve to be ranked No. 1 in the Class 2A state polls last weekend by placing first at the Metlakatla Invitational Basketball Tournament. The BBHS girls went 3-0 in the tournament, which was held Feb. 16-18.

Bristol Bay opened the tournament with a 58-48 victory over Class 3A Craig. From there, they posted a 62-40 romp over Metlakatla on Friday. They finished off their outing on Saturday with a 50-45 victory over Mt. Edgecumbe.

With the three-game sweep, the Lady Angels claimed their 12th straight win, and improved to 21-1 for the season. Bristol Bay's only loss of the season came on Jan. 14 against Bethel Regional High School.
