King Cove boys, girls notch wins

The King Cove High School boys' and girls' basketball teams both picked up a pair of key wins over the weekend in games played in Anchorage.

In Samuelson turned in a superhuman performance on Friday in the T-Jacks 79-43 victory over Lumen Christi. The KCHS standout pumped in a season-high 40 points against the Archangels.

The T-Jacks closed out their successful weekend on Saturday by pounding out a 77-55 win over Nikolaevsk. King Cove blew the game wide open in the first eight minutes of play by reeling off a 31-5 spree.

Samuelson led all KC scorers with 25 points.

Like the KC boys the Lady T-Jacks rolled to a pair of impressive wins.

On Friday, the KC girls used a 25-3 run in the fourth quarter and rolled to a 67-38 victory over Lumen Christi.

Elaina Mack led the T-Jacks' efforts with 16 points.

In their final game, the King Cove girls weathered a late push by Nikolaevsk to claim a 50-47 decision.
