Aleut Corp. pays out record amounts

The Aleut Corp. plans to pay a dividend of $21 per share this year, which is the highest ever for the Native corporation, a news release said.

Dividends will be paid out in three equal installments of $7 per share paid in July, November and March 2012. More than $6.8 million in dividends will be paid to the corporation's 3,683 shareholders.

The corporation also declared an elders benefit of $1,000 to be paid to shareholders 60 years or older as of March 31. The benefit will be paid in two $500 installments in November and March 2012.

Additionally, the Aleut Foundation will receive a contribution in the amount of $1 million dollars from the Aleut Corporation; the highest amount to date. The foundation funded over 250 shareholder/descendents pursuing higher education and career development opportunities in 2010.
