Annual gathering slated for New StuyahokPublished on June 30th, 2010 By BRISTOL BAY TIMES STAFF Incumbents Donald Nielsen, Hjalmar Olson and Robin Samuelsen, along with Sergie Chukwak, of Levelock, have been selected by the nominations committee for board seats to be voted on Oct. 2 at the annual meeting of Bristol Bay Native Corp. in New Stuyahok. BBNC officials announced the nominations in their June shareholder news publication, along with meeting details. The company plans to mail out its 2010 annual report and proxy material in early August, to assure that shareholders have sufficient time to review the proxy material before shareholder informational meetings. As part of the election process, shareholders will again be allowed to submit their proxies through BBNC's online voting system. Proxy material contains instructions for using the vote website, accessible through www.bbnc.net. BBNC plans to once again broadcast the annual meeting live on the web, so that shareholders unable to attend in person can learn about business conducted during the session. Instructions on how to long in using dial-up or broadband connections will be available in proxy material, and again in BBNC's fall newsletter. The main purposes of the meeting are to elect four directors to three-year terms and to review the corporation's performance for the fiscal year that ended on March 31. Also on the agenda are announcements for those named as BBNC Elder of the Year, BBNC Citizen of the Year and BBNC Student of the Year. Nominations for these honors may be made by individuals or organizations. Nomination forms will be included with the proxy material and also available on the BBNC web site in early August. The deadline for nominations is Aug. 31. Early-bird prizes of $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000, plus 10 prizes of $5,000 will be drawn from the proxies received by Mikunda, Cottrell & Co. by Aug. 31. BBNC, a diversified holding company representing some 8,500 shareholders of Eskimo, Indian and Aleut descent, was founded under the 1971 Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. The regional corporation's investments and services include a stock portfolio, cardlock fueling, corporate services, corrosion inspection, environmental engineering and remediation, oilfield and environmental cleanup labor, and government services.
