Winterfest 2010 kicked into gear Thursday

Winterfest 2010 started Thursday with a talent show at the Bristol Bay school auditorum in Naknek. Here is the schedule for this weekend's events taking place in King Salmon and Naknek.

Friday - Feb. 5

9 a.m.-9 p.m. - Middle School Basketball Tournament - 8 teams - Boys and Girls

10 a.m.-4 p.m. - Helicopter Rides at Egli Air Hanger. Call 246-3554 in advance for discount rates

2-6 p.m. - New and Used Clothing Sale at Little Red Library on Lynx Loop

3-5 p.m. - Open Swim with the Dinosaur at Kvimarvik Pool - Free

5 p.m. - Scrabble Tournament at Southwest Elders Home. Sponsored by King Salmon Ground, ACE and Events. Contact Jason at 439-3473

5 p.m. - Poker Tournament - Texas Hold Em at D&D Restaurant

7 p.m. - Chili Cook-Off at Eddie's Fireplace Inn, entries due by 6:30 P.M. Sponsored by Chinook Gifts and EFI

8 p.m. - Dart Tournament at EFI after the Chili Cook-Off

7:30 p.m. - Pool Tournament at Fisherman's Bar

8:30p.m.-11:30 p.m. - A Football Movie "Facing the Giants" at Naknek Community Bible Chapel - Bus rides will be provided to and from the School - Middle School-High School Welcome

9:30 p.m. - Karaoke/DJ Dance Music at Fisherman's Bar

Saturday - Feb. 6

10 a.m.-5 p.m. - Stamp-a-Stack at Naknek Village Council - sign up with Gail Aspelund before Saturday. 246-3387

Noon - Elks Sledding, Skating and Curling Contests and Fun at Lappers Lake Awards to follow at the lake!!

12:30 p.m. - Candy Drop by Egli Air at Lappers Lake- Ages 12 and under ONLY

1 p.m. - Cribbage Tournament at Eddies Fireplace Inn

1 p.m. - Smelting Derby open to ages 16 and under at FAA Rock. Sponsored by Harris Creek Construction - bring your smelting poles - 439-6804

2:30 p.m. or after Smelting Derby, Kids Putt Putt Golf Tourney for 16 and under at FAA Rock. Sponsored by Harris Creek Construction

3:30-5 p.m. - Hawaiian Party at the Pool at Kvimarvik Pool - Free

7 p.m. - Broadway by the Bay presents the FINAL performance of "BIG BAD" at School Auditorium

9 p.m. - Turkey Bowling and Shuffle Board following the Spam Contest at Hadfield's

9:30 p.m. - Karaoke/DJ Dance Music at Fisherman's Bar

9 p.m. - The Red Dog invites you to dance to the music of Wendy Lee and Todd - Nuts and Bolts Night - come and find your match for prizes to win.

Sunday - Feb. 7

11:30 a.m. - One Dog Weight Pull at Airplane Lake

Noon-4p.m. - Helicopter Rides at Naknek Airport. Call 246-3554 in advance for discount rates

Noon - The Soda Shop Girls will be selling Hot Dogs at the Penguin Dip. Stay toasty warm with a FREE cup of Hot Cocoa or coffee!

12-12:30 p.m. - Penguin Dip Sign up at Airplane Lake - Jumping will start at

12:30 - Male and Female Categories - Every one that jumps gets a prize!! $$$$ for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for both categories

TBA - Candy Drop by Eddie Clark - After the Penguin Dip at Airplane Lake - for ages 12 and under only - All the candy you can find - Only one hat prize per person can be redeemed to allow that every child gets something

5 p.m. - Sockeye Swim Soup Feed at School Concessions Area

7:00 p.m. - Winterfest Awards Ceremony, Button and Raffle Drawings at BB School Auditorium (Lots of great door prizes)
